Illinois and compilations

Yow! Congrats to UIUC and il.us! Speaking of which, what *is* il.us? I
know va.us represents (mostly) the Blacksburg Electronic Village in
Virginia, which hasn't gotten into this yet (except for my machine and a
maybe a couple others) because the DESCHALL publicity around here has mostly
centered around Virginia Tech. Is il.us some sort of "Urbana Electronic
Village" run by U of Illinois?

On another note entirely, has anyone looked into what happens when you
compile the non-x86 client with gcc -O6? Having one Alpha that can only do
0.2 MKps, I'm definitely interested. Alternatively, you can use cc with
about a dozen command-line options to tweak the compilation, but I figured
it'd be easier to try it with gcc and one option. :-)
