Ultrafast 64-bit code now available!
====================================

If you've got a 64-bit Alpha or SGI -- stop running the DESCHALL client
that you've got right now. Run (dont walk!) over to the DESCHALL archive
(links at <http://www.frii.com/~rcv/desquick.htm>), and download the
NEW client for your platform. These new clients implement a derivative
of the Biham's bitslice method for doing DES encryption, and they're
*blazing fast*.

A few benchmarks:

(kilokeys per second)
Machine old deschall new deschall speedup
------- ------------ ------------ -------
SGI Onyx2 (194 MHz R10000) 829 1943 2.3x
SGI Indy (180 MHz R5000) 370 820 2.2x
AlphaStation 255/233 451 1297 2.9x
AlphaStation 600 5/333 916 2944 3.2x
DEC Alpha 3000/400 200 600 3.0x
SGI PowerChallenge2 (R8000, 90Mhz) 233 820 3.5x

DESCHALL has always had the fastest DES cracking code, and we've just made
things even FASTER. So, if you have access to systems with 64-bit processors,
you'll want to get these new clients. If you're not sure if a system you're
using is 64-bit or not, try the new client to find out. If it runs faster,
go ahead and use it.

At this time, only these 64-bit implementations are available. Additional
64-bit implementations will be posted as they become available.

Preliminary results show that some 32-bit platforms will also benefit
from this technique, but clients for 32-bit platforms are not yet
available.

Darrell Kindred is responsible for combining the DESCHALL algorithm
with Biham's bitslice technique.

Thanks, Darrell!
