You guys are going to run your own RC5 effort? Did you know that there
already exists a RC5-56 effort, HQ'd at http://bovine.st.hmc.edu/?

We've already done about .68% of the keyspace (which is a lot considering
the RC5 algorith is a lot longer cycle-wise than DES), and our rates are
still in the exponential stage of growth. Current time to total
exhaustion of the keyspace is about 5-6 years, but that keeps dropping.

If some of you are looking for clients to optimize, I hear our Alpha
clients really need some work. We also have clients for 95/NT, Win3.1,
OS/2, Mac 68k, Mac PPC, NeXT i386, NeXT m68k, BeOS, Linux ELF, Linux
Sparc, BSDI, FreeBSD, NetBSD, IRIX/MIPS, Sun, Solaris, AIX, and HPUX9.

We're keeping the source available and allowing people worldwide to
participate, I guess we'll be the guinea pigs for ITAR enforcement in
this matter. I've heard that we've already gotten word from SolNET that
they'll try to help us out when DES-56 is finished, can I also ask that
some of you might try to do the same and make this one giant effort?

For more info about the Bovine effort either go to the main page at
http://bovine.st.hmc.edu/ or come see some of the major co-ordinators
in the #rc5 channel on EFNet IRC.
