'For a Few Cycles More' in win95/NT

I've been playing with wintop.exe, comes with the Kernel Toys for
win95(available at microsoft.com free), which has a similar counterpart in
NT but I don't know what it's called. Anyway, it shows CPU usage by %
listed for each application running.
-An open DOS window(like the one Deschall uses) wastes ~1%. Minimize it. Or
use DESgui ala Randy Weems
-Leaving the mouse pointer anywhere click-able wastes ~1%. Leave it in an
unused area of the Taskbar( not on the desktop)
-DESgui uses about 0.05% except when logging when it jumps to 0.30%- Don't
need logging. This is better than my old solution of leaving Dunce on using
a constant 0.25%
-Screen Savers are a complete waste anytime IMHO but are especially bad for
wasting cycles. Not sure about the "blank screen" one, I just turn off the
monitor. Duh!
-Get wintop.exe and experiment on your own, or use Ctrl,Alt,Delete and "End
Task" anything non-essential.
-Deschall uses ~99.5% of the CPU with everything else quiet.
Cycles don't grow on trees.
