anonymous via proxies?

Well, for good or bad, I have my effort's proxy running. I will wait
to hear from Justin to tear it down and get all my clients talking
directly to the server again... ;)

However, I dont quite understand this in the u2t script:

#By default, your participation will be anonymous.
#(ie, your participation only makes the numbers for
#the gateways bigger. Noone knows your domain is helping)
#If you want to get your own listing in the stats,
#just set $anon to 0. Otherwise, leave it set to 1.

my $anonymous = 1;

Is this from the point of view of the client behind the firewall, or
the proxy on/at the firewall?

Does this mean that the clients cracking will be resolved by their
own IP? This isnt good for me cuz they're scattered over 100 domains.

or does it mean that the machine running the u2t proxy will be resolved
by its ip? this would be good, I want all of the requests going thru
my u2t proxy to appear as coming from the proxy itself, not annonymous.

However, I mighta done this wrong (and figured out chaining by accident) -
I have apache in proxy mode on the same machine as u2t, and its forwarding
all of the requests to the httpd proxy server at the master site. So I
am already chaining by accident in a way.

Now, HOW is the effort resolved - by where the HTTPD requests come from
directly, or where the u2t announces its sitting? In this case its
the same machine, so the only thing that could matter is what that
variable is set to. (am I right here?)

Question is 1 or 0?

I think I've thoroughly confused myself. HELP! (And to think I knew
what I was doing before all this. I shouldnt be in control of so
much CPU, should I! :)

Should I restart my u2t proxy-gateway with the master gateway URL instead
of my apache proxy?

I think the problem here is that its 4am.

/kc
