If the MacOS client is set to quit at the end of the current block, then it
will cause the server to produce a Z message when it reports the results of
the block without requesting a new one. Some message has to be sent back to
the client so it knows that the server received the client's message, but
another key block would be a most inappropriate reply. Hence, "Z", which
means go quit.
