Monster machines vs. desktops

Personally, I don't think the addition of a monster machine or two should
drive away individual users. Look at the graphs, and see what the average
client speed is... about 550 kkps. That's *slower* than the $1100 computer
sitting on my desk. So, I still feel like I'm making a contribution.

What would be interesting to know is: what is the most cost-effective
DESCHALL client platform? I have a feeling that it is probably a
multi-processor PPC or Pentium box. Beats me -- I don't have any. The
computer on my desk gets about 650 keys per US dollar per second (for the
CPU, not including monitor). Any other comparisons?
